Bernard Wayne Dahl
1938 - 2025

Bernard Wayne Dahl was born November 21, 1938, in Appleton, Wisconsin, to Clifford Richard Dahl and Ethel Ida Runquist Dahl.

Bernie graduated from Neenah High School in 1956 and went on to Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota.   He then transferred  to University of Minnesota where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1961.  He continued his education at the University of Minnesota on a US Public Health Service fellowship and earned a Master of Science degree in 1962.  He subsequently served two years as a commissioned officer of US Public Health Service.  He married Jennie Lou Peterson of Minneapolis on September 15, 1962.  Bernie worked for various consulting engineering firms.  He received both the Phillip F. Morgan and George Bradley Cascoigne Medals from the Water Environment Federation in 1972 and 1973 respectively for papers on plant scale research projects.

After his first wife passed away in 1984, Bernie moved to Tulsa, OK.  While there he married Rita Gayle (Clark) DeVries on October 12, 1985.  In 1988 they moved to Pensacola, Florida, where Bernie worked for the Emerald Coast Utility Authority.  In 2002 he retired and they moved to Red Rock, OK, to be close to Rita’s parents.  They subsequently moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma, in 2012.

Since Bernie’s retirement he served briefly on the Red Rock town board and as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Red Rock Cemetery Association.  At the time of his death, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ponca City.

Survivors are his wife Rita of Ponca City, OK, two sons Jason Krister Meloy Dahl and wife Tracey of Pensacola and their daughter Hilary; Erik Albin Dahl and wife Kelly of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and their two children, Cooper Henry Talsnes and Ellery Jane Peterson; two stepdaughters Natasha DeVries of Columbus, Ohio, and Nicole Richison and husband Kyle and their two boys, Parker Bryan and Preston Karter.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Jennie Lou Dahl.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 20, 2025 in the First Baptist Church of Ponca City with Pastor Michael Taylor officiating.  Committal prayers and interment will follow in Red Rock Cemetery under the Kind Guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.  Remembrances may be shared online at www.stittsworthfuneralservices.com.
