1972 - 2024
We invite you to join us in honoring the life of Garry Regino Rogers, who passed away September 3, 2024, at his home in Enid, Oklahoma after a months-long struggle against liver and lung cancer.
Garry, age 52, was born June 2, 1972, in the Philippine Islands. He was the oldest of five children born to Maria Elena Regino. When his mother married Jeffrey Rogers, he was adopted by the man whom his only son would be named after. He was always grateful to the first man who showed him true love and kindness.
After the untimely death of his father, Garry’s grandparents, Don and Diane Rogers, moved him and his siblings to the United States so they could have an opportunity for a better life. Due to serendipity involving a brown van, within two years Garry and his siblings would be adopted by a loving couple who were friends of the family. John Sellers and Robyn Lemon Sellers opened their hearts and their home to all five Rogers children. Another child from Mongolia would eventually join their family and become the sixth sibling.
Garry spent several summers working at the Phillips University Science Camp where he helped lead backpacking, rock climbing, and white water rafting trips with his father. Some of his happiest experiences were catching fish in the alpine lakes of the San Juan Mountains of Colorado.
After graduating from Enid High School, he worked for many years at Combo King and Palace Bingo. He later received a degree from Northern Oklahoma College and was most recently employed at Tyson Foods. Garry was a quiet man known for his strong work ethic. His employers could not have found a more dedicated or reliable employee.
Garry had a love for cars (especially his Camaro), his three Chihuahuas, Bingo, Pinky and Jax (his favorite), and the occasional visit to the casino. After reconnecting with his adult son, Jeffrey Rogers, in the Philippines and helping him get his Green Card, the two lived together in the home Garry owned for the past 12 years.
Garry is survived by his son Jeffrey; his parents John and Robyn; his siblings, Jeny Center, Julia Rogers, Diana Rogers Jaeger, Kevin Rogers, and Ochi Dorjsuren; as well as many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held to honor Garry’s memory on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Anderson-Burris Event Center, 3022 N Van Buren St., Enid, OK 73703. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation in Garry’s name to Because of You Chihuahua Rescue, a 501(c)3 non-profit in Edmond, Oklahoma, dedicated to finding loving forever homes for Chihuahuas and other small breed dogs.
