Mary Jane Boese
1937 - 2024

The Lord called our mother/grandmother, Mary Jane Boese home on Monday, September, 16, 2024. She lived a long and happy life. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Ladusau Evans Funeral Home in Enid, OK with Pastor Scott Whitley officiating. Cremation arrangements by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.

Mary was born to Andrew and Carmela Nistico on November 20, 1937, in Waterbury, CT. Mary was the sixth of ten children, and attended Mary Abbott School in Waterbury.

She enlisted in the United States Air Force on August 30, 1956, shortly after graduating from high school. She met the love of her life, Renzer “Red” Boese at Waco Air Force Base and following a short courtship, they married on July 5, 1958. Mary received her honorable discharge and moved to Enid, OK (where Red’s family resided) following Red’s orders to serve overseas. She lived in Enid throughout the remainder of her life. During their marriage two daughters were born, Tammie and later Janet.

Mary had a lifelong compassion for people, she took that care and energy and pursued a nursing certification, receiving her LPN License from O.T. Autry. She spent her career working in nursing homes in the early years and later in homes for mentally challenged adults. Her final several years of employment were spent at NORCE in Enid, OK. She retired in 1999.

She and Red spent the next twenty years traveling the country in their motor home, visiting new places, family and friends.

Mary enjoyed animals and especially dogs, raising Boston Terriers for many years. She also enjoyed old movies and must have owned every DVD made.

No doubt what put the brightest smile on Mary’s face was her grandchildren. When they came entered a room, her face lit up. Playing games with them or putting together a puzzle were special times.

After Red passed Mary moved to Burgandy Place and loved the activities and friends she made there. For the last eighteen months Mary has been at Garland Road Nursing Center. She loved BINGO, crossword puzzles and activities at the Center.

Mary’s church home was Calvary Chapel Fellowship of Enid, OK, where she made many friends and loved attending church until her mobility limited her.

Mary had a very short illness prior to her passing from this earthly life into the arms of her Savior. She was surrounded by family during her final days.

She is survived by daughter Tammie and husband Bud Green of Bostwick, FL. and Janet Coplen of Enid, OK; four grandchildren, Steven Byrum wife Nichole and children Avery, Payton and Riley of Enid, Rebecca Campbell of LaMesa, TX and children Amador Esparza of Midland, TX, Jimmy and Jesse Hernandez of Norman, Ark., Bridgett Campbell significant other Jerry Sporhase and children Raven and Xander of Mankato, KS and Jammie Sheldon husband Seth and children Morgan, PJ and Shane of Bostwick, FL. Mary was preceded in death by her spouse, father, mother, three brothers, two sisters and her mother and father-in-law.

Memorial contributions in Mary’s name may be made to Hospice Circle of Love and Enid SPCA with Ladusau Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
