Roy Nelson McNaught, Jr., 90 died Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois. Roy was born June 24, 1934, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to Roy Nelson McNaught, Sr. and Alice (Perdue) McNaught. He attended Kingfisher Schools and excelled in music as an accomplished trumpet player. Following high school, Roy attended Phillips University, where he was a member of the barbershop quartet, The Four Plainsmen. In 1954, Roy married Barbara (Baker) McNaught, and they had four children: Kelsey, Shelley, Jon, and Joe.
Roy worked for Nigh Savings in Enid, Oklahoma for many years. In 1986, Roy married Martha Lee McNaught. Over the course of their marriage, they lived in Enid, Oklahoma, Germany, Sarasota, Florida, and Oak Park, Illinois. They loved traveling, and were privileged to visit many different countries, as well as many locations in the United States.
Roy was an active member of Central Christian Church throughout his life in Enid and was also an active church member in every city where he and Martha Lee lived. He and Martha Lee spent many hours volunteering, both with the church, and with various symphony organizations. Roy’s time was also spent on his love of cars. He spent countless hours buying, repairing, and selling automobiles over the years. Roy is survived by his wife, Martha Lee McNaught. He also leaves a legacy through his children and their families: Kelsey McNaught and Derice Madoux, Shelley and B.J. Thompson, Jon and Anne McNaught, Joe and Sherri McNaught, as well as stepdaughter Julie Griffin and her husband, Greg Meadors. Roy is also survived by nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mary Testerman.
Private burial. Internment at Memorial Park Cemetery, in Enid, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Phillips University Legacy Foundation in memory of Roy N. McNaught, Jr. (pulf.org)
