The Cherokee Chiefs Head Football Coach Bryce Schanbacher sat down with CTB Sports Director Derek Darr to preview the upcoming game against the Waukomis Chiefs.

Coach Schanbacher began by discussing what is at stake in this game.

“It’s a big game for us; 2nd place in the district which ensures that you get the first round of playoffs at home. So there’s a lot at stake for both of us and [our] biggest game for us of the season.”

Coach shared how proud he is of this year’s team.

“I’ve been really proud of them, these kids hang in here with us through that first stretch first season. We’ve played some really good teams early on that I think that helped get us ready for district play. Since we started our district play, we’ve played really well….”

Schanbacher finished off by talking about how they plan to stop the Waukomis rushing offense.

“I don’t know if you can stop it. They’ve been able to put points up against everybody that they’ve played. So, I think we’re gonna do our best to slow it down as much as we can. They just do a lot of different things, different kids, they line up in different positions and do things that are hard to prepare for. 8-man especially, if you get one guy out of position on defense, anybody can go score; especially if they got some speed and Waukomis definitely does.”

You can listen to the game LIVE on Nov. 7 on CTB Sports at 1640 & 1390 am. Pregame begins at 6:30 p.m. with kickoff at 7 p.m.
