CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with Chisholm Baseball Head Coach Riley Thompson to discuss the Merrifield Tournament Championship game on Thursday.
Thompson started off by talking about how the tournament has gone for the Longhorns.
“We had an [excellent] four games, played some pretty good teams in pool play. Alva gave us a really good game…Had some [good] pitching performances throughout Thursday and Friday that helped us get to 4-0 in pool play and a chance to win it.”
Thompson then shared some insight about their opponent, the Pioneer Mustangs.
“They’re going to give us a tough game, and that’s for certain. It always is every time we play them. [Coach] Reisen does a great job of having his guys ready to go and putting a consistent product out on the field year in and year out. So yeah, we’re excited to have the opportunity to take that trophy home with us. We know that if we can limit our mistakes and go play our baseball, we’ll be able to come out on top.”
