In the Pond Creek Hunter Invitational tournament championship games the DCLA Eagles defeated the Pond Creek Hunter Panthers 65-48 in the boys matchup, while the Kremlin-Hillsdale Lady Broncs upset #13 in 3A the Blackwell Lady Maroons 30-22.
In the boy’s matchup, DCLA looked like a threat to win the Class B State Championship, the Eagles returned most of their team from last year and brought in newcomers Bryce Bledsoe, Braden Bledsoe, and Tripp Briggs who each stand over 6″3.
Point guard Will Muegge had 19 points while Bryce Bledsoe had 19 and Braden Bledsoe had 19 as they defeated a tough PCH team by 17 in their own gym. DCLA Head Basketball Coach Cole Jones got the win over his father PCH Head Coach Darrin Jones and his 2 brothers Gabe Jones and Jackson Jones who start for the Panthers.
In the girl’s matchup, Kremlin-Hillsdale knocked off #13 in Class 3A Blackwell 30-22. It was a defensive battle with both teams having rubber legs in the 3rd game of the tournament. The defense of Pepper Elmore was the difference, she also led her team in scoring with 10 points!
