In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with Enid Plainsmen Head Baseball Coach Brad Gore on his way to Arkansas to discuss the strong debut to this season.

The coach began by discussing why the team is off to a good start.

“We’ve played really good as a team. I think we’ve been fairly consistent at play and on the mound for the most part…There’s always room for improvement, but, overall, as a team, we’ve done pretty well in all phases of the game.”

Gore was proud to share what the key to victory for this season’s success has been.

“That’s been the whole key for our offense. We haven’t had to rely on the top part as much as we might’ve thought we had to. The bottom part’s been picking up quite a bit of slack and getting on base. And that’s the key: cut down the strikeouts, put the ball in play, and get a few timely hits. The reason those guys are being so successful is that they’re not just throwers, they’re pitchers. They know how to pitch [and] execute pitches at different counts, and they need to execute to be successful.”
