In this interview, CTB Sports Derek Darr sat down with the Head Boy’s Basketball Coach Russ Gilmore to discuss the upcoming game against Jenks.

The coach began by discussing his background.

“I’m originally from Kansas; I’ve coached in four different states including Kansas, Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. And this is my 45th year in the business and I’ve been a high school coach for 39 of those years, and five years as a junior coach. I was retired for a couple years and the job came open and they were looking for somebody with some experience that they wanted somebody to know how to build a program….”

Gilmore was happy to share some star players who have made waves this season.

“We’ve got several but my point guard, one of them, is Zyire Allen—he’s been coming on really strong…and just been a solid leader for us. We have [Torvontae] Washington who’s kind of come out of here as of late. He’s our other senior [who] has been really solid and doing a good job. Then we have a bunch of underclassmen that have a great future. Ty Fulton is just a sophomore but he’s averaging the double figures for us…Isaiah Thompson—has several double-digit games and has been really good. Cash Mathis is our only true post-type player. He’s just a freshman but he scored in double figures several times including his high this year.”
