In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with Fairview Head Football Coach Robert Bernard to discuss spring practices.
The coach emphasized the team’s commitment to maintaining high standards despite recent losses, praising the players’ dedication and talent as key factors in sustaining their successful momentum.
“We talked a lot over the winter about continuing this standard that we’ve set, and the kids have done a really good job of buying into it. We understand what we lost, but the expectations aren’t going to change for this group. They’re hard workers; there are some very talented football players in there, and so we hope that there’s not that much of a drop-off and that we just continue that run we’ve been on.”
Coach Bernard shares the excitement of the younger players to take on a leadership role for the team.
“Absolutely. I think they’re looking forward to it. They’ve enjoyed the roles that they’ve played. They accept those roles [and] they played them well, but they know it’s their turn to lead and what we expect out of those leaders. In fact, we had a great conversation yesterday in our meeting about what we expected, and those guys are going to take it head-on as a challenge and run with it.”
