Former Kingfisher Head Football Coach Jeff Myers Sees Coaching Career Ended by Lawsuit Settlement

As reported by the Enid News and Eagle former Kingfisher head football coach Jeff Myers sees his coaching career ended by a lawsuit settlement involving former player Mason Mecklenberg. The lawsuit alleged that while on the football team, Mecklenberg was subjected to verbal, physical, and sexual abuse.

According to the Enid News and Eagle KPS is ordered to pay Mecklenberg 5 million dollars, Myers is also prevented from continuing his extra school activities although the lawsuit does not impact his teaching contract.

KPS will also have to conduct mandatory training for staff on how to identify and prevent bullying, hazing, harassment, and sexual abuse. KPS had an opportunity to settle the lawsuit back in March 2022 for 1.5 million dollars but declined to do so.

Myers is currently facing felony charges for perjury and child abuse.
