In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with the Garber Wolverines Head Football Coach Koy Hughes to discuss the quarter-final matchup against Yale Bulldogs.
Hughes began by talking about their win against the Empire Bulldogs.
“It was a great win for us. Empire is a good football team. It took us a little bit to get going, but [the] defense played outstanding; other than one big play, really shut ’em down. We were able to establish the running game and control a lot of scrimmage up front on both sides of the football…against a really good team.”
Coach talked about the matchup against Yale and highlighted their road together.
“Tough to tell on Film. Their schedule hasn’t been the greatest, really the only team they’ve played with a winning record, we have in common. which is Drumright. It’s hard to tell because because they’ve dominated their competition so much. We’re kind of familiar with them, we played ’em in the last four years in the regular season, so we know they’re a good football team. Really good offense [and] defensive line, and they have a lot of skilled guys that do a good job in space and able to make plays. We’re gonna have a tough task ahead of us, especially playing in a tough road environment at their home field, so we know we’re going to have to play really well to be successful.”
