In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with Hennessey Head Girls Basketball Coach Brian Richardson to discuss the upcoming matchup against Okarche.
Richardson began by talking about the upcoming OBA and Okarche games and discussing the teams themselves.
“It’s nothing like playing two teams that aren’t very successful,” the coach said.
He went on to discuss how OBA is solid on defense, as well as commenting on their adaptability. “If you have them down, you gotta really finish them off. Okarche is Okarche; their kids play extremely hard, and they’re gonna play really good defense.”
Richardson also discussed Katie Kennedy, a player with an extensive injury history, still kicking and playing for the team.
“The main cog in our system, Katie Kennedy, she’s been out for a substantial amount of time…with a knee injury. [We] finally got her back, then she had a car wreck in October and ended up with a bulging disk. It was just one thing after another. So we got her back after Christmas, and then she had a pretty bad ankle injury during the 2nd game after Christmas…With her out there on the floor, it makes us a lot better [with] some of the things she can do.”
