In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with the Hennessey Girls Basketball Coach Brian Richardson to discuss the upcoming Regional Tournament.
The coach began by highlighting some top players on the girl’s team.
“I think [during] this time of year, you rely, as a coach and a team, on your older girls, especially your seniors. And a lot of times, your play is going to replicate how they’re playing, and that’s Katie Kennedy, our one senior. She’s playing extremely well right now…had 11 points, 5 steals, and her steals are really kind of what spark plugged our run that got us the 17-point lead late in the second half…Emma Copeland is probably the one that we’ve really leaned on heavily throughout this season, especially in our turnaround because [of] her ability to get the basket, and handle the ball….”
Richardson also shared how a well-structured schedule can help your team for the season.
“I think it’s important, for sure. As a coach, you like to strategically set up your schedule [in] certain ways. You like to play good teams towards the end, too, to see what you need to work on. They’ll expose you to your weakness, but you also want to be playing your best basketball.”
