In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with the Lackawanna Head Baseball Coach Mike McCarry to discuss the upcoming NJCAA Division 2 World Series.
Coach McCarry reflects on the transformative impact of improved health, travel conditions, and favorable weather on a team’s performance.
“I think we start the season two and eight, and then we finish on a 32 and eight run. And you can draw the line in the sand when we started getting guys healthy, when we stopped traveling in a super obstructive manner. And really, when it’s the weather gets nice and we just get outside and got to play baseball.”
The coach expresses confidence in his team’s scoring potential by discussing the strength and consistency of their lineup.
“You know, it’s anytime we turn the bottom of the order over the top, I almost feel like we’re going to score every time. Just by sheer math, if there are four or five of them that are hitting over 385 in a row, I feel like two of them are going to be on base. And if we get a two-out single, we’re going to score. And that’s a fantastic place to be in. And what makes it more comforting is they’ve done that against a multitude of competition. “
