In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with NOC Enid Head Softball Coach Steve Sissel to discuss the season so far.

The coach reflects on a strong initial performance despite some setbacks due to injuries, expressing optimism about future prospects, while recounting specific regional game outcomes and noting that it is their final year in junior college competition.

“Our first weekend, I thought we played really good. We played as well as we had all year. We’ve had some injuries and so we kind of fell off a little bit there. I think we’ve got a chance to do very well. We’ve only played two region games [with] Connors. Lakeland struck out 11 and we gave up one run and got beat 1-0…Then Monday, we played Heston out of Kansas. This is our last year of JUCO….”

Sissel highlighted some players as well as losing one due to an injury.

“We have some really good freshmen; Emily Gregory is a sophomore [and] doing very well…KK is no longer with us [because] she got a concussion and couldn’t get cleared…we’ve got our shortstop, Brylee Davis…Cassidi Cook, Zoie Zachry…We’ve got a lot of potential.”
