The NOC-Tonkawa Mavericks were just one game away from making it to the NJCAA World Series losing to South Arkansas 10-7 at David Allen Memorial Ballpark. It was their 3rd meeting with South Ark in the Regional Tournament.
All 3 games were high-scoring affairs, the Mavericks lost the 1st game 12-7 earlier in the tournament, but the Mavericks bounced back in the 1st game of the championship series winning 13-4. However, in game 2 South Ark was able to hold off a late Mavs rally to win 10-7.
South Ark clinched their 2nd birth to the NJCAA Division World Series in the past 2 seasons. In last year’s World Series South Ark got off to a red-hot start before dropping 2 in a row on the 3rd and 4th day of the tournament.
