In this interview, CTB News Director Colby Talley sat down with OBA Head Girls Basketball Coach Randy Roth to discuss the upcoming State Tournament.
Roth wanted to share how happy he was to be coaching this girls’ team.
“It’s an abundance, an embarrassment of riches for me as a coach. I get to coach these young ladies, it’s a rare thing to have a kid on your roster that is going to end up playing at the next level in college basketball…there’s a community feeling among the whole team.”
The coach wanted to credit the younger players for their contributions to the team in their own way.
“We’ve added some freshmen to the roster that doesn’t always show up on game day, but it shows up every single day when we can…and that is what a team’s all about. And so we might have some of those girls that you don’t see on game day, but they’re in there on the day before game day being the scout…before a game, just kind of pushing the starters…those younger kids, you don’t always see them on game day, but they definitely helped build a program that’s for sure.”
