The Oklahoma City Thunder added more youth to their young line-up in the 2024 NBA Draft taking 18-year-old prospect Nikola Topic with the number 12 overall pick. Topic is only 18 years old and shows great promise, he averaged 15.1 points per game in the Adriatic League, leading his team to a championship.
He also was named the MVP of the 2023 FIBA 18U Championship after leading Serbia to a gold medal. However Topic is a bit of a project, scouts believe he struggles with his jump shot at times and he is coming off an ACL injury.
But the Thunder were impressed enough with his accolades and his potential to take a chance with the number 12 overall pick. The Thunder also traded up to the 26th pick with the New York Knicks giving them 5 second-round picks in exchange which they used to take Dillon Jones from Weber State.
