In this interview, the PC-H Panthers Head Football Coach Tanner Bowman sat down with CTB Sports Director Derek Darr to discuss the upcoming playoff match against Hollis.
Bowman began by talking about how the season for the Panthers has been so far.
“We’ve had a really good season so far. We started off pretty strong, [and] won our first five games. Unfortunately, [we] didn’t finish quite as strong. I really think that we have the best district in 8-man football in the state regardless of class,” Bowman said. “The three teams we’ve lost, they’ve lost to a combined five games. [A] lot of those are to each other. I think it’ll be good coming out of this district. You’re definitely battle-tested: Garber, Laverne, [and] Turpin are all very capable of being semi-final teams that can play for the state championship if they didn’t have to play one another…The boys are excited to get to play…someone different…..”
The coach was excited to compliment the Panthers’ defense and what makes the perfect blockade.
“Everyone is playing really hard, that’s really all there is to it. This probably has been the best defense we’ve had since I’ve been here. The line is young, we have two freshmen playing for us on the line. Then we have a couple of sophomores and a junior [who] come in and play for us too. Those guys do such a great job of playing hard. They’re coachable, fly to the ball; when you’ve got eight guys that fly to the ball, it makes it a lot easier….”
