In this interview, Ringwood Red Devils quarterback Isaac Wall and his father James Wall sat down with CTB Sports Director Derek Darr to discuss how Isaac got the opportunity to play football despite his medical condition hindering him.
James began by talking about the unexpected opportunity.
“It’s an unexpected turn in our lives. We’d never anticipate him being able to do this, so it’s been a crazy great year.” Isaac never expected to become the starting quarterback. Isaac was overjoyed to know that he’d be able to play football.
As Isaac stated, “I walked up and down the field wishing I could play, looking at the players, wishing I could be in their position. For seven years, I’ve been managing [the team] and wishing I could play every year. This last part of the summer, Dad [came] up and asked me if I wanted to play. It was a big shock, I didn’t think I was able to acknowledge it.”
Isaac was not expected to become the team’s quarterback when offered to play football.
“It was a change. I was not expecting to be the quarterback, that’s for sure. But I knew I had a lot on my plate. I had to pick up and learn and help my team win….”
Isaac also spoke about how scoring the 1st touchdown of a career was a huge moment for him.
