In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with the Seiling Wildcats Head Football Coach Gary Manuel to discuss the upcoming semi-final matchup against the Covington-Douglas Wildcats.
Manuel started off by sharing the key to victory.
“Staying level-headed, not reading those papers, and knowing that we’re gonna get everyone’s best effort every time we step onto the field. [That has] been our message that we preach to our kids and they’ve done a good job so far.”
The coach went into detail on what the plan is to stop C-D with their passing game.
“We gotta figure out how to stop them from scoring points. Their quarterback, Ford, is pretty special. I knew he was gonna be a special player when I saw him play as a freshman…we’re gonna have to play well, keep our contain lanes…stay on our guys; our [defensive] line gotta play well, they gotta play good fundamental south football standard rush lanes…stop the run first and foremost….”
