CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with Timberlake Head Baseball Coach Garrett Powell to discuss the upcoming Merrifield Tournament.
Powell was happy to share how the team looks forward to the Merrifield Tournament every year.
“Oh yeah, this is a special tournament. The boys, this is one of the things that they look forward to every year: getting to play [at] David Allen. That’s an awesome facility…It’s special to all these area towns, and us included. And the Merrifield Tournament marks maybe a little over halfway through a season, maybe three-quarters of the way through the year.”
Coach Powell also shared about how the team has performed this season.
“We’ve been doing well, we’re 13-9, we’ve been proud of this bunch. They’ve been in every game…Most of these boys are football, baseball, and track guys, they do it all. We’ve [been] waiting to get our arms in shape; we weren’t quite in shape when the season got started.”
Timberlake will open its Merrifield Tournament run on Thursday, when they play the Pioneer Mustangs at David Allen Memorial Ballpark. Tune in to that game on CTB Sports 1390 KCRC, 1640 KZLS, the CTB Sports app and enidlive.com.
