In this interview, CTB Sports Director Derek Darr sat down with Timberlake Head Football Coach Brian Severin to discuss the upcoming Championship matchup against Tipton.

Coach began by talking about the plan against the Tipton offense.

“Their two running backs run the ball really hard, they’re very quick. They are going to be tough to tackle; we’re going to have to do a good job getting a hold of them…gonna have to do a good job defensively.”

Upon being asked what the plan is when on the offensive, Severin said “What we’ve been doing all year. We feel like their secondary is a little suspect so we think we can throw the ball, but you don’t want to rely on just one part of the game. So, we’re gonna have to be able to run the ball too. Hopefully, we’ll be able to take care of those things.”

The coach also talked about the community’s excitement about the state championship matchup.

“They’re excited, this is the 3rd time in the last five years we’ve been in the state championship game. The community is ready to get after it, they’re very excited…These boys are gonna gain weight [in] the last couple of weeks as much as the community has been feeding us. But they’re excited and we’re ready to get after it.”
