Multiple sources are reporting that the University of Colorado is set to rejoin the Big 12 in a move set to shake up the college football landscape. The move is expected to take place in 2024 leaving the Big 12 with 13 teams that year after Oklahoma and Texas leave before that same season.
Sources: The Big 12’s presidents and chancellors voted unanimously Wednesday night on a conference call to accept Colorado as a new member. Colorado still has not formally applied for Big 12 membership, which is expected to happen tomorrow.

The move sees the Buffaloes return to the Big 12 after departing in 2010. Coach Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes will be able to resume rivalries with former Big 8 and Big 12 North opponents like Kansas, Kansas State, and Iowa State, former Big 8 members like Oklahoma State, and former Big 12 foes Texas Tech and Baylor.
With the Pac 12 failing to secure a television deal, and now the departure of the Buffaloes, many are speculating that more teams from the Pac 12 will consider following Colorado to the Big 12. The college football landscape will likely continue to shift in the coming months.
