The Solar Eclipse will be occurring this afternoon at 1 p.m., here are some safety tips to keep in mind when the eclipse happens.
- The sun is only safe to view when the moon fully covers the sun, otherwise known as Totality. Before and after, only look at the sun with eclipse glasses or through a camera/telescope with special sun filters.
If you are driving, here are some safety tips from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol:
- Prepare for congestion
- Don’t stop along roadways or shoulders
- Exit the roadway if you wish to take pictures
- Turn your headlight on
- Be extra cautious of pedestrians
- Do not pick up hitchhikers
