Wildfire in Mooreland Triggers Evacuations

There has been a fire warning has been issued for the area near the northwestern Oklahoma town of Mooreland, prompting evacuation instructions to be issued as first reported by KOCO

Shortly before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, a dangerous wildfire was located just southwest of Mooreland. Authorities said the flames are moving rapidly northeast.

Woodward County Emergency Management officials have urged people on the west of Highway 50 and North South County Road 212, south of East West County Road 41, north of East West County Road 34 and east of North South County Road 217. They said the evacuation route is east or southeast.

Authorities say people in those areas should evacuate quickly and follow all safety instructions from local emergency management officials. They also urge people to not drive into smoke.
