An Enid Man Among 12 Deaths By COVID-19, State Adds 1,276 More Cases

(Enid, OK) Oklahoma now has 75% of the state’s 77 counties in the “moderate risk” classification for COVID-19, according to Oklahoma State Department of Health. The state also announced 12 more deaths, including one in Enid, and 1,276 more cases associated with the virus on Friday.

From Sept. 18th to the 24th, Garfield County saw an increase of daily cases from 38.37 to 43.5 , according to OSDH.

All 12 announced Friday were in the 65 and older age group, including an Enid man who became the 20th Enid death either caused by COVID-19 or complications from the virus, according to the OSDH. With the Enid man, COVID-19 took the lives of two women and one man in Tulsa County, one man and one woman each from Oklahoma and Ottawa counties, women from Garvin and Muskogee counties and a Marshall County man. Oklahoma has seen 993 deaths with COVID-19 contributing. Cases in Garfield County rose by 24 on Friday, raising the total to 1,604 overall since March with 320 being active.  Enid rose by 14 cases, with 292 active cases.

In regards to schools going to virtual learning, both Enid and Chisholm public schools will continue on-campus classes next week. The districts plans are to move to distance learning only if the number of average daily cases per 100,000 population tops 50.00.
