The latest teaser has been released for the upcoming box set edition of John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band, which drops on April 16th. The new clip, based around animated versions of Lennon’s iconic pen sketches, features a cover of Jerry Lee Lewis’ 1957 track "It’ll Be Me," which was the B-side to "The Killer’s" classic "Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On."

Lennon’s version features both he and Billy Preston on pianos, Klaus Voormann on bass, and Ringo Starr on drums.

Although there was no greater true believer in early rock n' roll than John Lennon — he admitted that he was never particularly drawn to see his heroes in the flesh: ["I always was a record man, y’know. I mean, I like the studio always best — once I got the hang of it and the control of it. I like it, because it’s complete control. And even as a fan, when I was younger, I wasn’t that mad on seein’ the artist live. I like the record. Y’know, I like the record of  ‘Be-Bop-A-Lula,’ say. I’m not particularly mad on seein’ Gene Vincent every time he came to town. Y’know, I wasn’t that upset Elvis (Presley) never came to England. I’ll go for the records. The pre-army records. Records is what I was hooked on.”] SOUNDCUE (:25 OC: . . . was hooked on)
