Bryan Adams' newly released album, So Happy It Hurts, was really a case of turning lemons into lemonade. When the Canadian rocker was sidelined mid-tour by the pandemic, he focused on what would become his 15th studio set and rolled up his sleeves and got to work.
Although Adams is used to bringing his bandmates into the studio, due to the circumstances, he found himself having to wear nearly all the musical hats this time out: “When the whole thing came down and we couldn't work anymore, without skipping a beat I just went right into working on songs and it came together quite quickly. But I only did it in a way. . . 'Cause I didn't know what was gonna happen. I didn't know that I wasn't gonna be able to record with my band. I didn't know I wasn't going to be able to go into the studio. It was still early days in the Covid lockdown. And suddenly the realization was, 'Well, you're not going to be able to.' So, I decided that I would just do as much of it as I could myself. So the instruments on the record are all recorded by me.”
Brian Adams is currently on tour in Europe and performs tonight (March 16th) in Munich, Germany at Olympiahalle.
