The official online John Lennon shop has posted a string of new holiday merchandise products, mostly based around his and wife Yoko Ono's 1971 classic "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)." In addition to shirts, caps and blankets that proclaim, alternately, "Peace Love Truth," "War Is Over," "Happy Xmas," there is a "Hair Peace" wool cap, a "Bed peace" blanket — as well as a new "And so this is Christmas. . ." crewneck and greeting card.

John Lennon recalled the impetus to writing and recording the now-Christmas classic, 1971's "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)": ["What we wanted to do was have something (laughs) besides 'White Christmas' being played every Christmas, y'know? And there's always a war, right? There's always someone gettin' shot.
