Night Ranger‘s Jack Blades says he recently underwent surgery for a blocked artery. It happened in late March when the band had to postpone several concerts.

In a radio interview posted on Blabbermouth.net, he called it a “wake up call.” He was in Anaheim and his body “just wasn’t feeling right” and his tour manager took him straight to the hospital.

As for a health update, he said, “I'm all good. I'm feeling great. They cleaned out some of my pipes in my heart, some arteries and everything like that, and I'm all in good shape and I'm just rocking and rolling, as you can see by the shows and everything like that. I feel like I have more air to sing now.”

He said what sent him to the hospital was that he felt like he had heartburn and that’s something that he doesn’t get. He went on to say he regularly exercised before he was hospitalized and that his previous exams showed a very low risk of heart disease.

The band is currently on tour opening for Bret Michaels of Poison.
