- Brian Wilson's 80th birthday on June 20th was commemorated by an in-house video with a veritable who's-who of the rock and pop world wishing him happy returns of the day. Among those participating were Bob Dylan, Elton John, Barry Gibb, Smokey Robinson, Joe Walsh, Carole King, John Fogerty, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Mickey Dolenz, Three Dog Night's Danny Hutton, producer Don Was, actors Jeff Bridges and John Cusack, Lyle Lovett, Chuck D., writer/director Cameron Crowe, and fellow Beach Boys and touring partners, Al Jardine and Blonde Chaplin, among others.
- The late-Glenn Frey's son, Deacon Frey, reunited with the Eagles on June 17th during the band's show in Arnhem, Netherlands. Frey had left the group prior to the band's last North American leg. According to Best Classic Bands, "Frey played on only three songs of their 23-song set: 'Peaceful Easy Feeling,' and 'Take It Easy' during the main set, returning for the evening’s final encore, 'Already Gone.'" There's been no word as to whether Frey is planning on sitting in on any other of the Eagles' European dates. (Best Classic Bands)
- Noted musician Brett Tuggle — best known for his years between 1997 and 2017 touring with Fleetwood Mac, Lindsey Buckingham, Buckingham/McVie, and Stevie Nicks — died on June 19th due to complications from cancer. Tuggle, who was 70, will also be remembered for his time backing David Lee Roth in the 1980's and co-writing the 1988 hit "Just Like Paradise." Tuggle also recorded and toured over the years with such high profile artists as Jimmy Page, Rick Springfield, Styx’s Tommy Shaw, David Coverdale, John Kay & Steppenwolf, as well as Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels.
