- Six days before the official opener of their 2021 "No Filter" tour, the Rolling Stones will play a private gig on September 20th at Foxborough, Massachusetts' Gillette Stadium for New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft. The Boston Globe reported invites were sent out back on July 23rd telling guests, "Time to Get Started Up." The Stones last played a private gig at the venue for Kraft back in 2016. - Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa's daughter, Jessica Springsteen, earned a silver medal on Saturday (August 6th) in the team jumping final at Equestrian Park at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Jessica told CNN she called her family upon winning with her team: "I FaceTimed them really quick. They were all screaming, I don’t think we understood anything. Just saw their team USA gear; there was just lots of shouting. I couldn’t make a lot out but I know that they’re so excited." (CNN)
- Queen's Brian May slammed his good friend Eric Clapton for being among the musicians who doubts the safety of Covid vaccines and refuses to perform for only vaccinated audiences. May said, "I love Eric Clapton, he’s my hero, but he has very different views from me in many ways. He's a person who thinks it’s OK to shoot animals for fun, so we have our disagreements, but I would never stop respecting the man. Anti-vax people, I’m sorry, I think they’re fruitcakes. There’s plenty of evidence to show that vaccination helps. On the whole they’ve been very safe. There’s always going to be some side effect in any drug you take, but to go around saying vaccines are a plot to kill you, I’m sorry, that goes in the fruitcake jar for me."(The Independent)
- Lynyrd Skynyrd was forced to postpone and handful of gigs since guitarist Rickey Medlocke contracted the coronavirus. The band will sit out tonight's (August 8th) Pro Football Hall of Fame concert in Canton, Ohio, According to the report: "The band also suspended shows in Jackson, Mississippi; Atlanta; and Cullman, Alabama, with the August 13th show in Atlanta rescheduled for October 23rd." - The New Orleans Jazz Fest has pushed back its October 2021 festivities to the spring of 2022, due to the new Delta Covid-19 variant in Louisiana. An official statement read: "As a result of the current exponential growth of new Covid cases in New Orleans and the region and the ongoing public health emergency, we must sadly announce that the 2021 edition of the (Jazz Fest), scheduled to take place October 8th-to-17th, 2021, will not occur as planned. We now look forward to next spring, when we will present the Festival during its traditional timeframe. Next year’s dates are April 29th-to-May 8th, 2022." (Rolling Stone)
