- The Who saved a little something extra for their diehard Long Island fans on Friday night (October 7th). During the band's first-ever gig at Elmont, New York's UBS Arena, Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey not only included the fan favorite “Naked Eye” — but a show closing run-through the Who's Live At Leeds Mose Allison cover of “Young Man's Blues.”
- The Eagles have rolled out the band's first “Hotel California” shows for 2023. As it stands now, the band will play on January 18th in Thousand Palms, California at Acrisure Arena and February 17th in Lincoln, California at The Venue. (Best Classic Bands)
- Roger Waters admitted his lack of knowledge about hard rock and heavy metal during an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience. The Pink Floyd co-founder explained, “(I'm) not really interested in loud rock n' roll — which some people are and they love it, but I couldn't care less about AC/DC or Eddie Van Halen or any of that stuff. It's just, who? I don't go, 'Who?' because obviously I know the name. And I'm sure Eddie's brilliant and a great guitar player and wonderful. It just doesn't interest me.” (Loudwire)
- The Black Crowes — brothers Chris and Rich Robinson — are “engaged” in settlement talks with co-founding drummer Steve Gorman. Gorman drummed for the band from 1991 to 2001, and again from 2005 until 2014 when the brothers first split.
- Back in March, Gorman sued the brothers for denying him access to inspect the partnership’s books and records, “and improperly deducting unauthorized expenses from the royalty payments Plaintiff has received to date.” (Rolling Stone)
- While promoting his Like A Rolling Stone memoir on the WTF Marc Maron Podcast, Jann Wenner revealed that corporate rock bands never had a chance for induction while he was heading up the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. When pressed about the mega-platinum selling Foreigner, Wenner said, “Nothing against Foreigner — in fact, I was very good friends with Mick Jones. . . but, y'know, Foreigner’s name has never come up in a nominating committee to be nominated.”
- When pressed about REO Speedwagon, Boston, and Styx, Wenner said, “No, that whole era, it doesn’t come up. . . (Jon) Bon Jovi — it took years for him to get in.” (UltimateClassicRock)
- Legendary producer Peter Asher — also known as one-half of the hit duo Peter & Gordon, successfully underwent emergency brain surgery. Asher, who produced nearly all of James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt's classic '70s albums, posted a photo of him recovering in his hospital bed, writing, “Two small holes in my head but I am on the mend and should be outta here by next week which I am really excited for. I am honestly just bored because I’m usually so active and can’t stand having to stay in one spot but I am grateful things went so well.”
