The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will offer a live streaming broadcast of its Nov. 3rd induction ceremony, with Disney+ carrying the 38th annual show as it happens at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. It's only the second time in the ceremony's history that it's been broadcast live as it happens; the cable outlet Fuse carried the 2009 ceremony. Most recently it's been filmed by HBO and turned into a special telecast within a month or so of the original date. The show is slated to run from 8-11 p.m. EST, but most of the ceremonies have run well over time.
In addition, ABC will broadcast a three-hour special of ceremony highlights at 8 p.m. EST on Jan. 1st.
The Rock Hall also announced the first batch of this year's performers and special guests, including inductees Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, Willie Nelson and Chaka Khan as well as Elton John, Chris Stapleton, Dave Matthews, Brandi Carlile. H.E.R., New Edition, St. Vincent and more expected to be announced later.
This year's inductees also include Kate Bush, Kate Bush, the late George Michael, Rage Against the Machine and The Spinners. DJ Kool Herc and Link Wray will receive awards for Musical Influence, while Taupin, Khan and Al Kooper will be honored with awards for Musical Excellence. “Soul Train” host Don Cornelius will receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award for non-performers.
Taupin tells us that he's looking forward to the ceremony and is flattered to be part of this year's group of inductees: “Another thing I like about…” to “…in the same year as him.” :19 (OC: in the same year)
