Alicia Keys' critically-acclaimed musical, Hell's Kitchen, will have its Broadway premiere next spring. The production, which is loosely based on Keys' life growing up in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of New York City, is in the midst of a sold-out run at the smaller Public Theatre after debuting in the fall. That run closes January 14, but the show will then open shortly after at the Schubert Theater on Broadway on March 28. “Good things take time and for 13 years, I’ve been dreaming, developing and finding inspiration for a musical based on my experience growing up in Hell’s Kitchen, NYC,” Keys said in a statement. The show follows 17-year-old Ali, who is “desperate to get her piece of the New York dream” when “the sound of a neighbor playing piano opens the door to an unexpected friendship.”
