Beyonce Left Lizzo’s Name Out Of ‘Break My Soul’ Performance In Boston

Beyoncé left Lizzo’s name out of her “Break My Soul” remix during the Boston stop of her “Renaissance World Tour” on Tuesday — just hours after Lizzo was sued by three ex-backup dancers for sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment. The third verse of “Break My Soul” usually name-drops Lizzo along with other singers like Nina Simone, Lauryn Hill, and Janet Jackson. But at Gillette Stadium, she repeated Erykah Badu’s name four times, replacing Lizzo and former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland. (Both names were still displayed on a screen behind the stage.)

“Beyoncé reiterating Badu and skipping Lizzo…that’s on hitting 2 birds with 1 stone,” a fan captioned a clip, referring to Badu’s recent comment that Beyoncé copied a look of hers on the tour. But Beyonce's mom, Tina Knowles-Lawson, thinks the unexpected lyric change was nothing. “She also didn’t say her own sisters sic name yal sic should really stop,” she posted on her social media yesterday Wednesday.
