Hip-hop icon Chuck D, the co-founder of Public Enemy, will serve as “music ambassador” and “content architect” for Major League Baseball’s year-long Hip-Hop 50 celebrations. It all starts today, as Public Enemy is set to perform at Hip-Hop 50 Live at Yankee Stadium in the birthplace of hip-hop: The Bronx, New York. Chuck D will serve as MLB’s special correspondent for the event, and will then work with MLB on content, music, and other stories for the rest of 2023— including in-stadium videos about the relationship between hip-hop culture and baseball.
Today's concert is also set to include performances from Run-D.M.C., Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Lil’ Kim, Trina, Eve, T.I., Common, A$AP Ferg and more. “As a longtime baseball fanatic, I am beyond honored to be the first Hip Hop artist to work with Major League Baseball in this exciting new way — connecting sound and culture to the stories of the game,” Chuck said. “Thank you to MLB for adding me to the lineup … and the pitch is on the way.”
