Dixie Chicks Founding Member Laura Lynch Killed In Car Crash

Laura Lynch, one of the founding members of the Dixie Chicks has died at the age of 65. According to People.com, she was in a head-on collision Friday in Texas and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lynch was traveling eastbound on Highway 62 in Hudspeth County, as another driver, traveling westbound, attempted to pass a vehicle on a two-way undivided portion of the road. That driver struck Lynch's vehicle head on and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Laura Lynch was the original bassist and vocalist and recorded with the Dixie Chicks on their first three albums.

She left in 1993 and was replaced by Natalie Maines two years later. The Chicks broke into the mainstream with their fourth LP in 1998, Wide Open Spaces.
