Taylor Swift “never heard of” the group that is accusing her of copyright infringement.
The singer said in a sworn statement obtained by Billboard, “The lyrics to ‘Shake It Off’ were written entirely by me. Until learning about Plaintiffs’ claim in 2017, I had never heard the song ‘Playas Gon’ Play’ and had never heard of that song or the group 3LW.”
Writers Sean Hall and Nathan Butler claim that Swift’s 2014 hit infringed upon the 3LW single that peaked at No. 81 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2001.
