Weezer will be performing during this year’s NFL Draft in Las Vegas with Ice Cube and Marshmello. And in an interview with Audacy to promote the event, Rivers Cuomo admitted he aspired to be a football player when he was younger, but eventually took the rock star route. He was a Steelers fan and his plan was to be a member of the team.

By the time he got to high school he realized that he couldn’t get very far as a football player because he was too small.

He said, “It took me a year or two and then I finally figured out… I can be a rock star and still hear the cheer of the crowd and get some of the same thrills.”

He also hinted that Weezer is working on booking a residency in Vegas.

The NFL Draft Concert Series takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada from April 28 through 30.
