ENID, OK (June 27 2019) –

Enid Parks and Recreation officials today announced guidelines for the upcoming 4th of July fishing derby held at Meadowlake park. There is no registration fee for the popular event; however, fishing gets underway at 5:30 am on Thursday, July 4, 2019.

According to Parks and Recreation Supervisor Cory Buller, officials will sound a horn signaling the beginning of the fishing event. As anglers catch the tagged fish, bring the catch to officials allowing for the weighing, measurement, and recording of participant’s name. The fish weigh-in areas will be at Pavilion 4 (North Side) and Pavilion 5 (South Side) at Meadowlake park. Buller said, the tagged fish will all be catfish and the colors of tags will be light blue, dark blue, red, yellow, and orange. The fishing derby winners will be announced between 11:30 am and 12:00 pm.

As a reminder to all participants, a fishing license is required per the State regulation and City code.
