City of Enid Passes Ordinance Preventing New Dispensaries and Other Business Types in The Enid Square District Downtown

During the Enid Mayor and Board of Commissioner’s meeting that took place on Thursday, July 6th, the city voted on a new ordinance that would prevent marijuana dispensaries and other business types from opening up in the Enid Square District downtown.

The types of businesses prohibited include “A. “Adult entertainment uses”, as defined in section 11-1-7 of this title.
B. Alcohol and drug treatment centers, residential.
C. Bingo parlors.
D. Blood banks.
E. Detention centers, forced.
F. Mental health facilities, transitional.
G. Metal buildings, either premanufactured or site built, unless the exterior of such building is
constructed of masonry or similar material that is compatible with the character and integrity of
the architectural style prevalent in the overlay district. This determination shall be made by the
code administrator.
H. Mobile home sales and service.
I. Pari-mutuel betting, either as a primary use or an accessory use.
J. Shelters, emergency, domestic violence, dependent and neglected children.
K. Medical marijuana dispensary, commercial grower or processor.”
