Enid’s City Council meeting was Tuesday night March 15th, some of the highlights included a response to complaints about spending. As well as a complaint brought forward by a community member about her neighbor, alleging that he is hoarding.

After the study session over the issues to be discussed concluded, the meeting opened with the standard prayer and pledge of allegiance. During the time for Public comment, a concerned citizen raised an issue over a neighbor that she says has several code violations, including a car parked in his yard, and trash around his property.

City Manager Gerald Gilbert offered to take the woman’s phone number and to investigate the situation. Gilbert also indicated that the City has had problems with the neighbor in question in the past and that he may be a hoarder.

Another point of order during the meeting was whether or not the city would approve a 1 million dollar project for a bridge. Ward 1 Commissioner Jerry Allen responded to critics of the project who believed the project to be too expensive.

Allen defended the necessity of the bridge, citing that it has traffic that leads to the hospital. Allen said that if the cost of the bridge was 2 million dollars then he would still be willing to go forward with the project.

Allen then brought forward the motion to approve the project, the motion was seconded then approved by the city council. Also during the meeting, the animal shelter presented an animal available for adoption as they usually do at the meetings.

This time it was a freshly weaned puppy named Banjo. Banjo is part of a litter that was dropped off at the animal shelter and they are all available for adoption as of Tuesday night.
