Enid City Mayor David Mason sat down with the city of Enid Communications Department to answer questions from the community. The questions were submitted beforehand by members of the community. One of the biggest topics Mason addressed was plans for youth sports in Enid.

When asked to talk about the subject Mason mentioned that “just over 1400 kids play in our youth sports programs”. He talked about youth sports facilities in Enid saying “We’ve kind of neglected Crosslin a little bit and our football program”.

To address the problem Mason said he has formed a committee that will look at current problems with Crosslin Park and discuss possible solutions. Talking about the importance of youth sports Mason evoked the JUCO World Series and the positive economic impact it has on Enid.

Mason mentioned some regional tournaments that he thinks might come to Enid if the city had better facilities and how those youth sports tournaments could bring even more people to Enid than the JUCO World Series.

Mason was optimistic about the future of youth sports in Enid. “We just have to create 1 more facility and we will literally be the sports hub of Northwest Oklahoma”.
