Enid Police Department to Hold Community Briefing Over Fentanyl

The Enid Police Department will be holding a community briefing on the dangers of fentanyl. The briefing will be held at the department’s community training center at 401. W. State from 6:30 to 7:30 pm on July 11th. Giving the briefing will be Sgt. Mathew Hainley, will start with a presentation and finish with a Q&A session.

Narcan will be available to attendees of this event. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid, synthetic opioids are responsible for 67% of the nation’s 107,375 drug overdose deaths in 2022 according to the CDC.

Signs of a fentanyl overdose according to the CDC include

  • Small, constricted “pinpoint” pupils
  • Falling asleep or losing consciousness
  • Slow, weak, or not breathing
  • Choking or gurgling sounds
  • Limp body
  • Cold and/or clammy skin
  • Discolored skin (especially on lips and nails)
