(Enid, OK) Mayor George Pankonin announced Tuesday that the Three-Phased Plan for reopening Enid’s economy has been amended to allow church nurseries and bars to reopen on May 15, 2020.

The amended plan allows for the following:

  • Bars may open on May 15, 2020 and must follow the Employer Guidance for Oklahoma’s Open Up and Recover Safely (OURS) plan for bars.
  • Children are no longer restricted from church nurseries. Church nurseries are allowed to reopen and there is no longer a requirement to keep children with families in church.

The mayor said, “Following through with our promise, we are loosening our previous restrictions effective this Friday May 15th.  Public weddings and funerals with more than 10 total participants will be allowed and outdoor graduations may resume.  Bars may be opened for business.   They will need to follow the Employer Guidance for Oklahoma’s Open Up and Recover Safely Plan for Bars.  This is consistent with Governor Stitt’s state-wide plan.”

The new emergency declaration replaces all former declarations. The ratification of the amended emergency declaration and three-phased plan is scheduled to be on the May 19th Mayor and Board of Commissioners meeting agenda.

The other phases of the plan will continue as dated: Phase 2: June 1, 2020 and Phase 3: July 1, 2020.
