(Enid, OK) The Oklahoma State Department of Health recorded an additional 65 COVID-19-related deaths on Wednesday, setting a new record for the daily number of deaths reported. However, according to the OSDH, they spanned a timeframe of more than a month.
The 65 deaths reported on Wednesday occurred between Dec. 14 and Jan. 25, according to the OSDH, with a majority, 39, coming since Jan. 20.
Deaths reported Wednesday in the 65 and older age group were five men and three women in Tulsa County, four men and four women in Oklahoma County, nine men and two women in Cleveland County, four Comanche County men, three Washington County men, and two men and one woman in Creek County.
Also included were one man and one woman each in Rogers Cherokee, and Custer counties, one woman each from Pawnee, Okmulgee, Payne, Pottawatomie and Mayes counties and one man each from Woods and Canadian counties.
11 of the deaths were in the 50-64 age group including two men each from Oklahoma, Lincoln and Tulsa counties, one woman each from Payne, Muskogee and Tulsa counties and one man each from Woods and Washington counties. The other four deaths were one woman each from Oklahoma, Le Flore and Pawnee counties and one man in the 36-49 age group from Garfield County.
Garfield County’s COVID-19 case numbers increased by 66 on Wednesday for an overall total of 6,738, with 429 active cases.
Other Northwest Oklahoma county case increases Wednesday included 30 in Woodward, 16 in Kingfisher, 10 in Noble, six in Alfalfa, five in Blaine, five in Major, three in Woods and one in Grant County.
