Jo Ann Morris
1937 - 2024

Jo Ann Morris Was guided home to her Heavenly Father surrounded by her loved ones on March 18th at 7:30am. A graveside celebration of life will be held at the Garber Cemetery on March 22nd at 1:00 pm. Family will gather with friends following the ceremony at the Creek.

Jo was born on November 9th, 1937, in Texas City, Texas. She was a graduate of Oklahoma State A&M where she met Big John.  They married on January 25th in 1959 and created a home in Garber for their three children.  Their home lovingly known as “The Farm” has been the gathering place for their four grandchildren and five great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Christmas dinner, a favorite time together, has been celebrated for 54 years.

She was a true pioneer woman who hauled water, rode horses, prepared harvest dinners and was one of the first women cowpunchers at the Enid Livestock Sale Barn.

Jo received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Oklahoma A&M and began Garber Public School’s first kindergarten program.  She taught with humor, wisdom, and love and instilled self-worth in each child that went through her classroom.

If you traveled the road to Jo’s, you could smell the bacon a mile away.  The door was always open.  Time stopped as you sat on the deck.  Oh, the laughter… the stories… the words of encouragement… the strength of faith.  With a quick goodbye and a hug, she sent you on your way full of love.

She is preceded in death by her husband John Morris, her son Michael Joe Morris, her mother Ruby Ellis Brammer and husband Bob Hager, her father Arthur Laurence Bonner, her brother and sister-in-law A.L. “Punk” Bonner Jr. and Katy Kay, and her brother-in-law Louie Morris.

She is survived by two children, Mitch Morris of Atlanta, GA, and Mindy Morris of Enid; brother in law Bill Morris, of Wichita, KS; four grandchildren John Lee Morris and wife Rani of McAlester, Logan Latta and and wife Andrea of Garber, Ann Marie Morris of Oklahoma City, and Lara Latta of Woodward; five great grandchildren Leyton Leigh, Franky Dean, John Lincoln, Luke Morris, & Lockelan David and a sixth on the way.
